Miriam Finnegan holds a post graduate diploma in Clinical Supervision from Trinity College Dublin. Having attained a diploma in Humanistic Counselling from Fingal Counselling Service Miriam then upgraded to BSc Degree (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Middlesex University. She also has an Advanced Diploma in Education (Open University) and is an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Miriam is a former Vice Chairperson of Fingal Counselling Service.
Miriam's clinical experience includes more than five years working in a front line national addiction treatment service. In this environment both adolescent and adult clients with a range of problems including substance misuse, eating difficulties, sexual addiction and sexuality issues were treated. Miriam has a special interest in providing relationship and sexuality education to both young and older persons as well as group and individual interventions addressing problems arising from sexual abuse. Other projects Miriam has been actively involved in include a cross border parenting group initiative (‘Co-operate and Work Together') Consultant to the Springboard Project (Bernardo's) and the Unmarried and Separated Parents group (both as a Business Coach and Counsellor).
Dr Doran graduated in medicine from University College Dublin in 1995 and began psychiatric training in 1998. After gaining membership from The Royal College of Psychiatrists, he became a Health Research Board Fellow. Dr Doran has worked for nine years within the addictio n speciality and has a special interest in cocaine addiction rehabilitation and Attention Deficit & Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults. In 2009, he completed his Higher Specialist Training in Psychiatry with a special interest in addiction. Michael previously workedas Consultant Psychiatrist in Trinity College, Dublin and is now a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Kildare Mental Health Services.
Dr Gallagher trained as a General Practitioner in the UK where he worked in General Practice and Palliative Care. He went on to work in Australia and Ireland in the fields of Prison Medicine and Substance Abuse Medicine.Since 1999 Dr Gallagher has worked as a specialist in Substance Abuse Medicine in the Addiction Service of the Health Service Executive for Ireland. In 2005 he became a General Practice Coordinator in the Addiction Service and Medical Officer to the Lantern Residential Drug Detox Service for County Dublin, Ireland. A member of the National Drug Rehabilitation Implementation Committee and National Methadone Protocol Implementation Committee for Ireland, Dr Gallagher is interested in rehabilitation generally and specifically in care planning, case management, interagency cooperation and the continuum of care.
Dr D'Agnone is one of the founding members of the Latin American College of Psychopharmacology and was a senior secretary of the section Education and Psychiatry of the World Psychiatric Association. He is also a member of The Specialist Clinical Addiction Network, The Society for Study of Addictions, an international member of The American Psychiatric Association and The World Psychiatric Association. Currently, Dr D'Agnone is the academic coordinator of the Harvard Medical International - ICONO joint programme and Scientific Adviser for Argentina's National Secretary of Drug Related Programmes/SEDRONAR.
Mr Rowen's formal education includes a BA in History from Stonehill College in 1970 and a Master's Degree from the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work in 1972. In 1994 he graduated in Group Psychotherapy with the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy, Boston. In 1975 he was made director of Day One, Maine's first adolescent addiction treatment programme. He moved to Ireland in 1978 and became administrator of Rutland Centre – the first Minnesota Model residential treatment centre in Ireland. In 1980 he moved to Cape Cod where he worked for twenty years in Private Practice before returning to Ireland. In 2008 Mr Rowen was named as Head of the Department of Addiction Studies for both ATI Training & Education as well as for IT Athlone. In 2008 Mr Rowen retired from Rutland Centre to devote time to teaching, training, clinical supervision, consulting in programme development and in order to establish a private psychotherapy practice.
After receiving an Entrance Exhibition award from Trinity College Dublin, Ann completed her undergraduate degree in psychology. She then successfully undertook a research masters in health psychology in Dublin City University before completing the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in Trinity College.
Ann is skilled in conducting psychological assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention. In addition to having a wide understanding of adult mental health, Ann has experience working with addiction in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. Her interest in addiction and dual diagnosis began during her position as an Assistant Psychologist in the National Forensic Psychiatric Service, Central Mental Hospital. She later chose the Drug Treatment Centre Board as her specialist placement during clinical training.
Therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention, Community Reinforcement Approach and Narrative Therapy.
Ann has a keen interest in teaching, demonstrated by her experience as a Lecturer in Health Psychology on the BSc in Nursing in Dublin City University. She is also committed to professional development and currently sits on the committee of the Division of Clinical Psychology in the Psychological Society of Ireland. She has several publications in professionally recognised journals and has presented her work at national and international conferences.
Mr Creedon holds a BA in Management and an International MBA and has extensive healthcare management experience including
over thirty years experience with the Voluntary Health Insurance Board (VHI), Ireland's largest private medical insurer. He held
a number of management positions within VHI including General Manager Member Services from 1993-2000.
In 2002 he graduated with distinction from the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School in Belgium after successfully
completing their international executive MBA programme.
Mr Creedon consults and advises, nationally and internationally, to a number of healthcare organisations.
Rod has worked in the field of addiction for over twenty years. He graduated in 1999 from Liberties College, Dublin with a professional diploma in Counselling and Addiction Studies, and has been working in addiction both in private practice and for several other agencies since then. Rod also trained as a Couples Counsellor and worked until recently in this capacity for Accord Ireland. Rod finds it hugely rewarding to work with clients who have reached a crisis point with their addiction in a safe therapeutic residential environment, and finds it very inspiring to witness people's courage as they seek to transform and rebuild their lives.
