We recognize the difficulty and complexity of dealing with addiction in the daily practice of a Physician. Frequently Physicians find themselves as "unintentional interventionists" with up to 1 in 4 clients presenting with issues related to addiction. We provide a helpline service to offer guidance and support to assist in the frontline treatment of clients that present with issues relating to addiction:
| Assistance with identifying addiction | |
| Physician to Physician contact with our addiction specialized consultant physician | |
| Techniques on how to move clients towards recognizing they have a problem | |
| Guidance on working with family members of addicts who present seeking assistance | |
| Interface with addiction counsellors |
If you are looking for more than information, then Toranfield House can connect you with appropriate treatment centres that meet the geographic and financial needs of your clients. The facility appropriate to the needs of the client may be Toranfield House, or another facility. Either way, we will assist you to get your patient the care they need.
The third step is assessment. If Toranfield House is the best option for the client then we will arrange to accompany them to Toranfield House for a full assessment. Each client is assessed and an individualised treatment plan, which offers the greatest opportunity for recovery, is tailored to meet their needs. This care plan is reviewed on a weekly basis by our multidisciplinary team of health professionals, which includes a resident consultant psychiatrist, addiction specialist physician, psychologist, senior addiction counsellors, nursing and healthcare staff.
The fourth step is the on-going feedback to the Physician. We recognize the importance of maintaining contact with the physician regarding the patients status, any medication changes, and to operate utilizing the previous knowledge and experience of the clients primary care physician. We will keep physicians informed as to how their patients progress through the programme at Toranfield House and assist in a seamless transition between our facility and the next step in their recovery.
We operate a structured 28-day residential programme. Clients are encouraged to be drug/alcohol free on admission. However, if this is not possible clients can be directly admitted to the centre’s onsite detox programme. Following medically supervised detox, they can then commence addiction treatment.
As a supportive and discreet centre for recovery, Toranfield House is committed to providing an effective intervention and rehabilitation service for clients suffering from a range of addictions including alcohol, drugs, gambling, compulsive behaviour and eating difficulties.
Programmes at Toranfield House are structured to address issues that are unique to the families and friends of our clients. By fostering a strong family ethos the treatment at Toranfield House addresses and acknowledges the many difficulties faced by those living with an addict.
Coupled with structured family care, Toranfield House also provides an extensive aftercare programme, which ensures continuity of care for all clients for a full 12 months post discharge. This extended programme of aftercare aims to support clients in the various stages of post residential recovery process.
